Residential Burglary - Community Advisory

On September 17, 2010, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7400 block of Holly Avenue for reports of a burglary that had occurred earlier. Some time between 12:00 p.m. and 12:40 p.m. unknown subject(s) made entry to the residence and took property. A K-9 track was conducted which led officers to Piney Branch Road where the track was lost. Earlier in the afternoon, units had responded to Holly Avenue and Dogwood Avenue for reports of a suspicious black male with short hair, 6’0, wearing a white tee-shirt and blue pants knocking on people’s doors and handing out vegetarian and PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) magazines. PETA magazines were found scattered in the back yard of the burglary victim’s residence.

If you had any contact with a person who knocked on your door giving out vegetarian and PETA magazines, please call 301.270.1100 and ask to speak with a detective in the Criminal Investigations Division.
