Armed Robbery and 1st Degree Assault; One Subject Outstanding - News Release

On October 3, 2010, at approximately 3:56 p.m., there was an armed robbery and 1st degree assault in the 6900 block of Eastern Avenue, Takoma Park, Maryland (Eastern Carry-out). There are two subjects currently in custody and one still outstanding. Three subjects entered the business and robbed one customer and two employees of the business. The subjects were each armed with semi-automatic handguns. The subjects obtained property and fled in a Burgundy Dodge Intrepid. A Takoma Park officer spotted the subject vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Lincoln Avenue at Elm Avenue. The vehicle continued traveling at a high rate of speed west on Lincoln Avenue when it lost control at Lincoln at Boyd Avenue and flipped over and struck multiple vehicles before coming to rest on its roof in the 300 block of Lincoln Avenue. All three subjects in the vehicle exited and fled on foot. With the assistance of K-9 and officers, a perimeter was established which aided in the capture of two of the three subjects. There is an active search of the third subject at this time. A U.S. Park Police helicopter is on-scene assisting officers with the search. Citizens are being asked to remain inside while the search continues. Additional information will follow as it becomes available.
