At approximately 9:07 p.m. on September 14, 2011, Takoma Park Police received approximately 10 phone calls for shots fired in the area of Lockney Avenue. The complainants who called heard approximately eight shots. Takoma Park Police responded to the area and conducted a search of the area for approximately one hour and were unable to find any alleged shooters or evidence of shots being fired. Officers continued to check the area for the remainder of the night in an effort to locate possible shooters.
On September 16, 2011, at approximately 6:43 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 7900 block of Lockney Avenue for a citizen who found spent shell casings in the parking lot of 7901 Lockney Avenue. Officers met with the citizen and was directed to four casings (9mm Luger) in the parking lot.
Officers checked the area further and found an additional eight casings (9mm). Six were recovered from the parking lot and two from a trash can located next to the parking lot. The area was processed for additional evidence. The casings were collected.
