Takoma Park Police will be hosting a community event on October 29, called “Gear Up Takoma!” It will be a fun-filled day where citizens can bring their bicycles, scooters, and skateboards to ride through some safety obstacle courses and a crosswalk simulation activity. All ages welcome! There will also be bicycle and skateboard maintenance workshops, helmet fitting, a raffle for several helmets, and food… All for FREE! Partnerships for the event include: Takoma Park Safe Routes to School, The Green Commuter, Takoma Bicycle, Montgomery County Safe Kids program, and Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Services. The event will be held from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Takoma Park Community Center (7500 Maple Avenue / rear parking lot). Come out and celebrate Crime Prevention Month!
