Chief Ronald A. Ricucci of the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Leonard Bernard Smith, 39, of Takoma Park, Maryland, for 1st Degree Burglary, Theft $1,000 to under $10,000, and Malicious Destruction of Property.
On November 9th 2011, at 7:51 p.m., Takoma Park Police Officers responded to a burglary that occurred in the 8200 block of Houston Court. Once on scene units spoke with management personnel who advised that the door to an apartment had been broken by force. The apartment was checked for possible suspect(s) with negative results and property was discovered missing.
Through investigation Smith was developed as a suspect. On November 17, 2011, at 5:51 p.m., officers responded to Smith's address and placed him under arrest on the burglary warrant through this agency. During questioning, Smith confessed to the above charges and was transported to the Central Processing Unit (CPU) without incident.
