Arrest Made for Attempt 1st Degree Burglary; Other Offenses - News Release

Chief Ronald A. Ricucci of the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Christian Arias, 23, of Takoma Park, Maryland, for attempt 1st degree burglary that occurred on August 24, 2010. Arias was also charged with malicious destruction of property less than $500.

On August 24, 2010, Takoma Park Police responded to the 7400 block of Wildwood Drive for an attempt residential burglary. The victim returned to his residence to find a small pane of glass broken in his front door with blood left behind. The door was still locked. The victim checked the rest of the residence and found at the side door another pane of glass broken out and that door also had blood left behind. Investigation revealed that the subject attempted to gain entry into the front and side doors of the residence, however, sustained a laceration causing him to bleed. There was blood present at each point of entry on the ground floor. Since the victim had secured each window and had deadbolts on each door, the subject was unable to gain entry. The scene was processed for investigative purposes.

On November 1, 2011, Takoma Park Police received a DNA hit on the blood samples submitted to the Montgomery County Crime Lab. That hit confirmed that Christian Arias was the person responsible the attempt residential burglary. A warrant for Arias was applied for and granted for the charges listed above.

On November 2, 2011, Takoma Park Police responded to the 1100 block of Kirklynn Avenue and observed Arias in the area. Arias was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
