Chief Ronald A. Ricucci of the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of William Anthony Knight, 20, of Washington, D.C., for auto theft out of Takoma Park, Maryland. Knight also has a 1st degree homicide charge pending out of Prince George’s County, Maryland.
On October 24, 2011, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 1100 block of Linden Avenue for the report of an auto theft that had occurred earlier. The vehicle was last seen by the victim on October 24, 2011, at 5:00 p.m. Some time between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., the victim’s vehicle, a 2002 dark navy blue Dodge Caravan, was stolen from the parking lot. The vehicle was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) stolen vehicle database and a statewide lookout was released by Takoma Park Police Department.
It was later learned that the above vehicle may have been used in a homicide in Mt. Ranier, Prince George's County, Maryland. Investigation identified Knight as the occupant of the stolen mini-van. A warrant for Knight’s arrest for the auto theft was filed.
On October 31, 2011, at 2:20 p.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the DC Jail and arrested/extradited Knight back to Maryland to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit to await an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. Knight also faces the 1st degree homicide charges out of Prince George's County.
