FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Chief Ronald A. Ricucci of the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Darrell Wint, 25, of Hyattsville, Maryland, for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) Marijuana with the intent to distribute.

On December 2, 2011, at approximately 4:50 p.m., Takoma Park Police and the Takoma Park Gang Investigator were conducting an investigation into complaints in the Maple Avenue Corridor, specifically the 7700 block of Maple Avenue, for CDS activity. Officers entered an apartment building and observed Wint walking towards them. As soon as Wint approached the officers, they could smell the odor of fresh marijuana emanating from the area where Wint was standing. A consent to search was given and officers found Wint to be in possession of a black bag containing 235 grams (approximately a ½ pound) of CDS Marijuana. Multiple clear sandwich bags and a digital scale were also found; Marijuana residue was still on the base of the scale. The amount of Marijuana in Wint’s possession, as well as the CDS paraphernalia, was indicative of an intent to distribute.

Wint was arrested, charged accordingly and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Wint is a self-admitted gang member.
